Merry Christmas to all of you! Have a good time with your loved ones. Here is one of my all-time-favourite Christmas songs, written by John Lennon in 1971. Although it was a protest song about the Vietnam War, it has lost nothing of its meaning today.

Farewell Dinner

Oh, Won't You Stay Just a Little Bit Longer?

Last week before Christmas

Für die meisten von uns geht es in den nächsten Tagen wieder nach Hause, weshalb wir es uns in diesen Tagen noch einmal gut gehen lassen. Gestern waren wir mit unseren Flatmates in Jesmond essen, wo wir dann schon einmal eine vorgeszogene Bescherung gemacht haben. Zu meiner Überraschung hab ich doch glatt eine DVD von Slowhand bekommen... seltsamer Zufall, oder?? ;-) Später ging es dann zu Hilal, deren Flat wir eigentlich in "Hotel Hilal" umbenennen müssten, weil sie uns immer mit türkischen "Zwischenmahlzeiten" oder einfach mit Pasta verwöhnt. Danach ging es dann ab "doon the toon", wie der Geordie sagen würde. Ich werde in den nächsten Tagen mal anfangen, Christmas Cards zu schreiben. Ich habe so etwa 20 Stück gekauft - wer also trotzdem keine bekommt, beschwere sich dann bitte nach Weihnachten bei mir. Heute Abend steht dann noch unser Final Farewell Dinner mit allen an. Mehr dazu später...

P.S. Ich komme am 20. Dezember nach Hause, nur für den Fall, dass ihr mir alle die Tür einrennen wollt, weil ihr mich so sehr vermisst habt. ;-)

Weihnachtliche Stimmung in Newcastle

So.... nachdem ich mir mit dem Schreiben ein wenig Zeit gelassen habe, gebe ich mal kurz ein Lebenszeichen von mir. Es geht mir immer noch gut (ja, ich weiß, wie langweilig :-)) und we are all looking forward to Christmas. Am Sonntag werden wir unsere International Christmas Party feiern. Natürlich wichteln wir auch, oder wie es im englischsprachigen Raum heißt, wir spielen das "Secret Santa" Spiel. In dieser Woche gibt es rund um das Monument einen kleinen Christmas Market, der sich diese Woche das Thema "International Countries and their food" oder so ähnlich auf die Fahnen geschrieben hat. Dort gibt es dann zum "Schnäppchenpreis" von 3 Pfund Original "German Zigeunerwurst". Ich hab sie noch nicht probiert... vielleicht mach ich es nachher mal. Neben dem Würstchenstand gibt es für die eher Experimentierfreudigen den Kangaroo oder Wild Boar Burger. Da habe ich allerdings so meine Zweifel... :-)
